Weekend Getaway: Valle de Guadalupe
There are multiple reasons why a vacation centered around wine tasting should be on everybody’s list. But besides the obvious, it is also one of the easiest driving trips you will ever take, located just 1.5 hours south of the border. Here are a few tips and tricks on where to stay and where to eat and drink for your next weekend getaway.
Where to stay:
Bruma’s Casa 8 - Although a pricier option, this boutique hotel is definitely worth it. The hotel tries to make guests feel at home with a shared kitchen and two living spaces that are open 24 hours. Breakfast is included and is served at a communal table.
Hotel Encuentro Guadalupe - This unique hotel offers guests not rooms, but little tiny “pods” to stay in that overlook the Valle de Guadalupe.
Cuatro Cuatros - A glamping hotel known for its ocean views that is located about 30-minutes away from the main Valle. The sunsets from the terrace make the drive worth it!
Boutique Hotel Valle de Guadalupe - Affordable option in the middle of Valle de Guadalupe and conveniently near all the great wineries. Breakfast is included, as well as a complimentary glass of wine for your arrival. They have a great pool and lounge chairs in the middle of the property.
Where to drink:
Monte Xanic - One of the more established wineries, a tour guide will thoroughly explain the wine-making process from beginning to end, and your tasting will include two reds, two whites and one rosé. Be sure to make a reservation in advance!
Decantos Vinícola - This is one of the newer wineries in the Valle, offering an interesting technique to their wine-making process called “gravity wine.” Haven’t heard of it? Check out our other blog post on the winery and their process!
Lomita - A little harder to get to (and find), this was one of the most beautiful wineries. They have an incredibly delicious restaurant that you can also enjoy called TrasLomita.
Las Nubes - One of the best views in Valle, this winery has a huge outdoor deck that overlooks Valle. Their signature wine Las Nubes is fantastic and is deliciously paired with the charcuterie board.
Casa Frida - For those instagram-worthy pictures, this winery and tasting room features beautifully painted murals on every wall. Be sure to take home a couple of bottles for your collection as they are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also delicious on a hot summer day.
